Joyful, nurturing yet technical classes are structured for preschool through upper elementary school aged children. Classes consist of ballet, tap, creative movement, contemporary, jazz and hip hop. Hip Hop and AcroDance is offered as a supplemental class for Levels 2 and 3. All levels are very affordable for young families. As an incentive, we offer all males a 25% tuition scholarship for all dance classes. All levels are offered a performance experience each semester. This program is a great spring- board into the Southern Indiana Youth Ballet Company while developing a true love of dance. Classes are instructed by Debbie Endris or Chelsea Endris with a student assistant in each class and Acro Dance is instructed by Jessica McCollum and Hip Hop is taught by Lindy Hafele. Most students average about 2 years in one level however some may need three years in the same level while others may move to the next level in one year. Students are never held back nor pushed forward. Students work at their own pace. |
AcroDance
Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context. This dance style combines classical ballet techniques with fluid movements and tricks such as cartwheels, aerials, handsprings, backbends and the splits. It is a physically demanding style that requires great strength, control and flexibility. It is especially helpful for dance technique by increasing spine flexibility, balance and core strength. AcroDance can be taken alone or added as a supplemental class for Levels 2 and 3 at a 50% discount. It is offered in the fall semester only. |
AcroDance is a Fall Semester supplemental session. Hip Hop replaces it in the Spring Semester for the same age level.
Basics for ages 6-16 year olds Meets Once per week for 45 minutes for 8 weeks. |
Southern Indiana Youth Ballet Company
Professional Preparatory Division Our unique and highly regarded professional preparatory program is perfect for students wishing to pursue a professional dance career or want a strong basis in dance technique. This year-round program focuses on strength in technique and performance quality. As an actual ballet company, with a student ballet mistress/master, dancers have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of how a professional company is run, thus even more preparing each one for the "real world" while still under the umbrella of a nurtured and guided close knit group. We are proud to say that over 80% of our Youth Ballet alumni have gone on to a professional dance careers. As a member of the National Honor Society of Dance Arts, our Youth Ballet dancers are eligible to be inducted and receive national recognition for their achievements in dance both academically and artistically. We are 1 of only 3 chapters in the state of Indiana and the only school in Southern Indiana to offer this outstanding opportunity to our dancers. The youth ballet has a strong sense of family and is featured in all performances. The company performs 2 times per year with the Holiday Show in December and Spring Production in June. Although the program's emphasis is in ballet technique; pointe, contemporary, modern, jazz, tap and acrodance are also included in the curriculum. Our fully comprehensive curriculum enables our dancers to be prepared for the advance demands of the professional dance world and helps each dancer find their unique style. The company is divided into 3 teaching levels: Trainee, Apprentice and Pre Professional. The summer intensive is required for all members of The Youth Ballet Company.
